Tennis tops Lone Star
The destination wasn’t quite where Denton hoped it would be, however the tennis team successfully put their strategies to the test in the game against Lone Star High School, topping the home team with a 12-7 win record.
Denton won two of the three games in the Boy’s Doubles, with Alex Clerihew and Chris Peters taking the round against Tyler Bryan and Anurag Andoji, 10-2.
For the Girl’s Doubles, Denton fell one game short, losing in a 1-2 series. However, in the second game, Jessica Soberanes and Sammi Hagen excelled on all cylinders, but fell just short in a 9-10 run.
In the Boy’s Singles Denton owned the rounds in a 5-2 winning series. Once again, Clerihew had another spontaneous game, beating Tyler Bryan 8-1.
While the Girl’s Singles propelled to beat Lone Star in a 5-2 series record as well. Of the five wins, Rebecca Fu beat Lone Star’s Nikki Lopez 8-4.
However, the team plans to take the rest of the schedule in a one-game at a time situation as they look to improve as the season continues.
