Emily Gray

The sound of thumping feet is a very common and smoothing sound to sophomore Emily Gray.  As her second year in Cross Country, at DHS and her fourth year running over all, come to a close, she’s beginning to reflect on her past seasons.  This year she was part of helping a girls team to regional’s in Lubbock.

Emily didn’t start to get serious about running untill coming into high school last year.  When asked what her favorite race is Emily said, “I would enjoy racing 5k on a regular basis, because it would be more challenging mentally, but I also like repetition, so the two mile is easier to build on week after week.”

With her best time in the 5k (3.1 mile race) is a 20:30, Emily is one to go big or go home.  She looks back at the past seasons and remembers most about last season and how close they came together as a team.  She remembers how well the group did and how much the seniors, of last year, inspired her to be a better runner and to be a better person in general.  She not only does Cross Country, but she also is involved in multicultural club, BPA, and might compete in track as she did a year ago.

Emily said that she was most inspired by her father and was grateful for it.  Emily’s plans for the future are to finish running through high school and maybe continue in college,  She has also thought about joining ROTC, where her running will come in handy.
