The Lady Broncos had a playoff game against V.R Eaton High on Mar.29 at Argyle High. Junior varsity played against Braswell Mar.9 and placed second at districts.

Even though the varsity team lost 1-0 during over time, captain Zoe Hensley expressed her pride in her team.

“I’m very proud of my team and everything we’ve achieved”, captain Zoe Hensley said, “It was a tough, well-fought game and we just weren’t able to get a goal”.

After many seniors from last year left, the team is now made up of freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and a few seniors. This could be a challenge for some teams since the players aren’t as experienced. However, captain Gabriella Up reveals that this is no challenge for them.

“I don’t think it has changed our team significantly overall even though we do miss them as teammates,” Captain, Junior Gabriella Upchurch said. “We still have talent and skill despite the loss of the seniors. I think we have all grown in our ‘soccer smarts’ and field awareness”.

The junior varsity team lost a few games during the pre-season but managed to hold a record of 6-1 during the actual season. JV captain, Amber Mireles, tore her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) after their game against Ryan on Jan.24, but the team still managed to bring wins home. To achieve this, chemistry between the team and good coaching is needed.

Junior varsity coach, Stephanie Stein is leaving Denton to teach at El Salvador, this really inspired the team to end their season on a good note and to make Stein’s last year at Denton one to remember.

“My favorite thing is spending time with my team, I feel that we’re all a big family and I love learning and growing with them,” Sophomore Alex Salter said. “Coach Stein has been nothing but supportive and she always makes sure we’re doing our best in and off the field.”

The Lady Broncos are already training and preparing for what the next the next season holds. With morning practices for the returning players, both varsity and junior varsity are headed to a good 2018-2019 season.
