Covey Carries the Load for third year running

April 30, 2015

American Sign Language teacher Jamie Covey, a member of the United States Navy Reserve, and Carry the Load founder Clint Bruce, a former Navy SEAL, discussed the work of Bruce’s non-profit organization and the role of Memorial Day in the U.S. society.

Covey, among many of her students, will participate in Carry the Load’s Dallas Memorial March on May 24-25, where she and other participants will carry the weight on their backs to symbolize their willingness to carry the memories of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

In addition to her contribution, Denton High students raised more than $1,000 for the non-profit, with Covey promising to wear a backpack with 70 pounds inside for a day per $100 they raised.
