Ethan Morrison honored as Texas Leadership Salute Youth Leader of the Year

Senior Ethan Morrison won an award that he didn’t even know existed: the Texas Leadership Salute 2014 Youth Leader of the Year Award. He earned this award through his hard work and dedication to the school and community surrounding it.

“It was a leadership and academic based scholarship for $500,” Morrison said. “I was nominated by Ms. Beth Hughes. I had to write an essay, attend an interview, and complete a survey to enter myself in the contest. The information was sent in and I was chosen as one of the four finalists”

The award is an incredible honor and contributes to a stable résumé for a promising future. Morrison plans to use his advantages wisely.

“I have three colleges I’m deciding between,” Morrison said. “I want to major in either architecture or engineering.”

Morrison has been as involved as he can in anything involving helping people for as long as he can remember.

“Helping people is just my passion.” Morrison said. “I like to try and give back to others, because you never know when you will need people to help you.”

Ethan Morrison was president of Key Club for two years and is now just an advisor. He is actively involved in Boy Scouts, and used to be a member of the Student Council.

“I’m really honored to have won the award,” Morrison said. “I was incredibly shocked when they called my name. Honestly, I expected to just be a runner-up, but as they called fourth, third, and second runner-up and my name hadn’t been called my heart stopped. I am so thankful for this opportunity.”
