2014 Volleyball Playoffs Preview

On Tuesday Nov. 4, the Denton Broncos will face the Lake Dallas Falcons in the first round of the volleyball state playoffs. The Falcons finished second in their 5-6A division with a record of 29-10 while the Broncos finished second in the 5A region with a record of 23-8.

The team ended off the season against Boswell and lost three sets to one, and are looking to recover from it and focus on what is ahead of them. Lake Dallas also finished their season with a three to zero loss against Argyle. Coach Danielle Kading knows the team has to have the right mindset coming into the game.

I need to stay positive, if I don’t stay positive then bad things will happen,”

“We talked about confidence, and how we shouldn’t trash talk even if Lake Dallas is. In fact Mr. Ford came in last week and talked to us about execution and that’s been our motto since then.” Kading said

Senior Jade Akins and junior Emily Curtis lead the team in saves and digs. Akins finished with 480 kills averaging four kills a game. Curtis earned 700 digs averaging 6 digs a game, but they know that they still have a long way to go.

“I need to stay positive, if I don’t stay positive then bad things will happen,” Curtis said.

Lake Dallas finished their regular season at 14-4 and Denton ended 11-3, so fans should expect a tight game and watch both teams give it their all in every set.
