Lady Broncos look forward to upcoming season

After just missing the playoffs in a fourth-place tiebreaker last year, the Lady Broncos hope to regain a trip to the post season in a newly revamped district 5-4A.

Last year the Lady Broncos allowed the second-fewest points in their district, giving up only 36.3 points per game. However, with only two returning starters, head coach Dennis Krishka knows his team’s top priority is continuing the trend of tough defense.

“We hope to develop chemistry and a foundation built on defense,” Krishka said. “We’re a team that will rely on depth and pressure defense.”

Denton moves from District 4-4A to 5-4A this year, joining some new opponents in Byron Nelson, Brewer and Azle. Krishka doesn’t see it as a major obstacle as his team played all three a year ago going 3-0.

“The new district will pose very little problem as far as familiarity goes because we already played [Brewer, Azle, and Byron Nelson] in non-district play,” Krishka said. “Rider will be head and shoulders above everyone, and Byron Nelson and Lake Dallas have several returning players. The rest of us are about all the same.”
