Golf takes district sweepstakes again

District awaits for the golf team and the competition is on to see which top five players will get to play. If all goes well, the team predicts they will have a pretty good shot at going to the state competition.

For junior Jackson Fite, second on boys varsity, this has been a dream for the past two years. Having gone to district last year, the team missed going to state by two strokes and Fite is ready to return and win.

“I’ve been playing golf for seven years and it’s my favorite sport,” Fite said. “I’m ready to go  win district, get to state, and hopefully win.”

The team is a close-knit group, enjoying healthy competition and supporting each other through all the tournaments.

My favorite thing about my teammates is that we’re all super competitive,” Fite said. “Every practice is a fight to win and we’re always challenging each other.”

While Fite loves the competition, some, including sophomore and newcomer practicing varsity player Grace White, prefer the relaxing aspect of golf.

“I joined because I wanted to learn something new,” White said. “I’ve grown to love the sport and my teammates; it’s been a great experience.”

Both Fite and White have been playing for sometime and love the sport and their team. Through their hard work,  they have succeeded in past years making district and continue to uphold high standards for Bronco Golf.

The team has averaged second in their last tournament and will be playing at district in April.
